Angry Birds?
Apr, 18, 2012
I was flying last week. I cant remember the name of the airline but we were actually up in the air so it couldn’t have been American Airlines. Anyway, we were told we couldn’t have our phones on because it would disturb the computers in the cockpit and the plane would crash. Now, I dont like to call anyone a liar (except for lawyers which is not offensive because that’s their job) but if that was true, why would terrorist go to the trouble of sneaking bombs on the planes? Why wouldn’t terrorist just stand up in the middle of the flight and shout, “In the name of Allah I will now fling this Angry Bird across my phone…and we will all die like pigs!”
But nonetheless (which still cracks me up that those words got away with crunching themselves together like that) flying is dangerous nowadays (there’s another example of 3 words that dont like spaces). So, when I fly I’m on high alert. Any strange looking dude sits next to me… I’m ready.
Step one: Take out my pen. What am I writing? Nothing. I’m ready to stab you with my tiny sword!
Step two: What do I order when the cart comes by? Hot coffee. Not because I’m sleepy. One flip of the wrist and you’re eyes are burning! There’s a Bonus too. You smell good to those around you while you’re screaming and dropping your box cutter. Breakfast Blend and charred flesh? Smells like a hero to me!
I spend the entire flight with my hand on the metal clasp of my seatbelt and the other hand down by my thigh…secretly playing Temple Run. I know my phone’s supposed to be off but they should make exceptions for heroes.
So, last week a strange guy sat next to me. I quickly took the cap off my pen. He took his pen out. So I’m thinking this is going to turn into a tiny duel. Later I realized he was like me and was just on high alert. We actually sat there for 2 hours…coffee tilted toward each other, pens at the ready. I was a little mad because turns out he was better at Temple Run than me.
Anyway, the point is, we have to be ready because we never know when our time is up. Sadly enough, it could be a plane crash or a car crash. (lots of people are texting…in fact, I’m writing this as I’m driving) This means being spiritually ready for anything as well. So my question is, are you working your faith out daily? Are you in shape and ready for whatever (two words that hate spaces) the world throws at you? Get in shape spiritually and the first step is picking up the Bible! Pick up God’s work out and do it daily!
